Skeletal Lightning Fest in the works

Currently working out details on a one-day fest featuring many of the bands on the site. I've started a dialogue with a venue, as well as a few potential headlining bands.

Details:

When: March/April 2013

Where: Urbana, Illinois

What: 12-15 Midwestern bands, big and small.

Why: To support the region's wonderful music scene and bring the bands and the fans together for the day to celebrate.

I'll post more info as soon as things start coming together. Any guesses on any of the bands that might be appearing? Or any bands that you'd like to see? Leave a comment below!

Summer compilation update

Hey gang,

Thank you for checking out the blog. It means a lot to me, and I know it means a lot to the people being covered through the blog, as well.

Here's an update on the comp:

- 27 Midwestern bands are confirmed for the free digital comp, including the likes of...
The ReptilianAngry Gods, Sick/Tired, Enabler (MKE), Rvins, Omens, William BonneyStay Ahead of the Weather, Jowls, Texas Instruments, Strangers Now, and His Throne, just to name a few...

- 14 bands have already sent in their tracks (Thanks for being on top of things!)

- A handful of bands will be using new/exclusive/unreleased material for the comp (Super pumped about this!)

- We are looking at a release date of somewhere around mid-to-late July or early August.

- A member of one of the bands being featured on the comp is also working on the album art for the comp.

- Detailed info about the comp including a definitive release date, complete lineup, album art, and more will come as more bands send in their tracks.

Until then, keep submitting those bands and keep coming back. Interviews will be posted soon.

Thanks for reading,

Sean

UPDATE - Compilation, interviews, and features in the works!

Hey gang,

School sucks, but the semester is almost over! Expect more content to be posted soon.

I do have a few ideas in the works for the summer:

- First, the first ever Skeletal Lightning compilation. I'm still in the planning process, but expect more details on that soon.

- Second, I will be looking into getting some interviews from some neato Midwestern bands. Have any recommendations?

- Third, I'm wanting to post some features on the culture of the Midwestern music scene focusing on fliers, venues, album art, and collectives or other groups working hard for the scene. There's a lot of people out there that work hard in ways we don't generally think about. The goal is to bring their hard work to light and get a behind-the-scenes look at what they do.

Interested in contributing to one of these ideas or have an idea of your own? Get in touch with a comment or shoot me an email at skeletallightning1@gmail(DOT)com.
