Error Records - Champaign, IL - DIY Vinyl/Tape/Distro

Welcome to the first installment of the new series on Midwestern underground record labels, which will be highlighting some of the great, but perhaps somewhat difficult to find labels of the region.

Up first is Champaign, Illinois based DIY label Error Records, which was established in 2008, then focusing on CD releases. Since that time, the label has shifted its focus to cassette and vinyl formats, while developing an online distro and screen printing business, and expanding its ever-growing roster of talented artists.

Currently on tap for the label is its first vinyl release - a vinyl pressed version of the Droughts/William Bonney split, which was first released on cassette.

You can pre-order the record with a special limited-edition poster and sticker here.

Follow Error Records on Facebook for the most up-to-date information.

Check out past releases and distro items on the label's online store.

Don't forget to listen to some of the label's most recent releases.

Nothing beats a talented up-and-coming band such as Chicago's Droughts. Filling venues with chill reverb-heavy riffs and driving beats, this band is making waves in the Midwestern  underground music scene.

Need convincing? The band's split tape with William Bonney sold out within a month.

Do yourself a favor and check them out at a show near you.

William Bonney - Midwest - Emo/Screamo

Meet William Bonney - A quirky, mysterious band with some serious jams.

Carrying on with the traditional Midwest emo movement, the band captures raw emotion through lyrics, catchy, energetic riffs, and passionate drumming.

The band's latest material comes from a split tape with Chicago band Droughts, which was released on Feb. 7 through Error Records. While the tape is now sold out, a 7" repress has just been announced.

Rvins - Champaign, IL - Down-Tempo/Sludge

This first post goes out to the hardest working musicians and best friends I know.

With some of the catchiest riffs and most pummeling drums, Rvins only seems to get heavier with each release. Their debut EP, Lungs, released nearly one year ago, sold out of the first pressing (and for good reason).

The most recent release, Maltross / Rvins splitfeaturing the song "The Black Opus," takes listeners along for the ride with some of the heaviest riffs east of the Mississippi.

Now, teaming up with Chicago's Good Night & Good Morning for an out of this world collaboration, Rvins looks to defy genres yet again, giving fans a completely new listening experience.

Look for the collaboration to be released in March through Error Records.

Artist: Rvins

Location: Champaign/Elgin, Illinois

For fans of: Pelican, Isis, Giant, Crowbar.
